I have several servers with Centos running Domino, Sametime etc. I need to setup Sametime Proxy just to use with IBM Connections and Mobile Devices.
We are a small deployment but need more disk space to setup the Proxy on the same machine of the community server
This command above show the hard drives installed

After instal a new one i get this

Last saturday i upgraded one Domino Server with a lot of enterprise applications from 7.0.3 to 8.5.1 FP3 IF1,. The server is very critical for my client business.
Everthing works fine until we start to test several applications. We detect a problem with ODBC connections to MS SQLServer databases (DB2 works fine).
Domino can't "see" the DSN's and we can see a lot of connections erros, after some hours of investigation we found the problem.
The Domino server isn't the 64 version but we are using Windows 2008 64.
When you register a DSN datasource using the icon on the control panel the DSN, a system DSN is only visible for 64 bit process (see this TN(http://support.microsoft.com/

One of the most important part of the IBM Connections is the person profile.
The full name of the person, in general, is stored on a corporate LDAP. Last week i am in charge to populate the profiles database with photos, and a lot of data from LDAP.
The person attributes on the ldap , like SN, CN, Display name was in capital letters like FIRST NAME LAST NAME. We don´t want this kind of display names,
The solution: Custon function before importing the users.

A few days ago i was in charge do remove some users from IBM Connections. The case was to delete the inactivated users. The users was removed from the corporate LDAP a few months ago and no one know the DN or CN of the users. The only information was the Display Name I need to know the user\dn and user\uid to create the file delete\or\inactivate\employees.in and then run delete\or\inactivate\employees.sh script. The only way i found was to export some data from PEOPLEDB. Reading the table EMPINST . Inactivated users does not have the PROF\MAIL data. I created an java program using Eclipse, connect to PEOPLEDB and export all users without the PROF\MAIL. I was able to see the user list

When trying to create the initial index for Global Search from the Homepage server, the index update fails with an error.
To prevent further problems with indexing, perform a search in the Profiles database for any null entries in the table EMPINST.EMPLOYEE.

External collaboration is a new feature of Connections 5.
External user are any users "marked" or "selected" as a external.
External users can:
- Only see Files and Communites that he/she has given access to
- See people in the community and business card (limited to some information)
- Search, but no public data will be returned.
The process is not complicated. The key is how to mark or select external users on your ldap. The options are;
1 - Map standard LDAP attribute for external users
2 - Map standard LDAP attribute using JavaScript
3 - Use an LDAP branch to store external users.
I use the option 3 because on our LDAP external users are in another branch

After i setup the IBM Connections 5.0 CR1 i open the homepage and the theme was show as the old IBM Connections theme not the new one. I found on the systemout.log the following net.jazz.ajax.internal.util.TraceSupport warn The StyleSheet "com.ibm.lconn.core.styles.oneui3/base/applications/profiles" To solve the problem shutdown the connections server and clean the temp folder of the websphere application server on all nodes. I opened a PMR last week asking IBM why drag and drop a file to a folder is not working when i use Windows Explorer. Bellow the answer. The MS desktop plugins do not currently support dragging directly to a folder. Files must first be created on the server (by adding to Files) and then they can be added to folders. Connections folders are not containers - they are collections of files that live elsewhere. One of our Connections customers has the following as a requirement:

The solution I found was to create a text file based on LDAP group and run sync\all\dns.sh command and then run the command delete\or\inactivate\employees.sh The java program
The class bellow read the LDAP and verify if the user is a member of the group. I not found good information on how to use the ITDS API to check if a user is a member of a group, so i need to do it "manually".

Just finish the integration between our Sametime 8.5.2 IFR1 and IBM Connections. Last week I went to Lotusphere 2010. Who has been in the event knows that it is necessary to plan the schedule of activities. The reason is that we have much content to be seen and also much to walk. During the event Instructor Day, I got a pedometer and started counting.
On average I walked 1967 steps per day. Whereas a step has an average of 85 cm, then walked 1.6 Km per day.

Two weeks ago I went to Lotusphere in Orlando. I forgot that the electrical connections in the U.S. are different from those of Brazil. I did not find an adapter to connect the charger to my cell phone, left me to improvise with a wire and electrical tape.

Moving IBM Connections databases to another disk

On my connections test server i installed everything in one machine. The home directory for db2inst1 user ends the file space The databases and all containers are under the default of /home/db2inst1. So we can use db2relocatedb to move them. First i tested this here with the sample database, and it worked. Your configuration file should look like the following (This is for FILES DB, you will have to change at least the DB\NAME for the others): DB\NAME=Files DB\PATH=/home/db2inst1,/dados INSTANCE=db2inst1 STORAGE\PATH=/home/db2inst1,/dados/db2inst1 /\ NOTE that I am assuming that all databases are using the default storage path like the FILES DB is. One VM Server does not work today and the VMWare vSphere client was not an option form me today. Several restrictions including bad internet connection using my cellphone. The solution was using ssh to VMWare host an then using the command line to power off and then power on the VM. 1. This week i spend several hours to setup a machine with IBM Cognos and IBM Connections 5 CR2 on SLES 11 SP3 using Oracle as database. The Cognos wizard complete the CognosBI setup but Trasnformer not. I set the logs to debug level and the messages does not help. The problem was when the error appears the wizard roll back the installation of CognosBI removing everything from WebSphere. After several reviews of the SLES libraries and Oracle client setup i made the setup only for CognosBI (previously i setup CognosBI + Transformer) successfully. I work for a BP in Brazil and every partner, who want's, to sell Quickr, Sametime or Connections, must have technical certifications and sale certification.

This error was throw CLFRQ0221E: Reference to directory services could not be retrieved.
Take the following steps to resolve this issue:
1. Login to the ISC.
2. Navigate to Security -> Global Security -> Single sign-on (SSO).
3. If "Interoperability Mode" is enabled, then you must specify the case-sensitive default names of "LtpaToken" and "LtpaToken2" for the
"LTPA V1 cookie name" and "LTPA V2 cookie name" fields respectively.
4. Synchronize the nodes & restart Connections.
\Please note that the Help tips for these fields contain the incorrect case of "LTPAToken" and "LTPAToken2".
