Changes when you create WebSphere Portal theme using WebDAV

The general procedure to create a new theme using webdav is: 1 - connect to http://:/wps/mycontenthandler/dav/themelist/ 2 - Copy the original theme from IBM to your disk 3 - Modify some files and them upload the files to the file store. My team and i used this general rule for several projects but recently this kind of procedure failed. When we copy the files back to the file store we get a permission error at the folder metadata I raise a PMR and the L3 support will change the documentation with the following: "Hint: With some WebDAV clients it can happen that you get an error "You need permission to perform this action". Command-line interface to update Portal v8 response files

Customizing IBM WebSphere Portal 8.5 login error message

When an user write the wrong name or password the Login porlet show a message to the user. My customer has a requirement to change the default message and add a link to the registration porltet inside of this message, because only registered users with all attributes (defined by the customer) can login on the portal. Steps : 1 - Stop Websphere Portal 2 - Clear the wp\profile\temp and wp\profile\ws\temp 3 - Go to wp\profile\installedApps\\PA\Login\Portlet\App.ear\login.war\WEB-INF\jsp 4 - Change the StatusMessageInclude.jspf adding what you want. Restart Websphere Portal. Obs: If you apply fixes or fixpacks maybe you need to change it again.

Db2 error during WCM 7 Syndication

When the syndication happens i see this error DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-286, SQLSTATE=42727, SQLERRMC=4096 on the SystemOut.log. This problem can be solved tunning the JCRDB and running a reorg on the tables. I use the following commands: db2 CONNECT TO JCRDB USER db2inst1

You can follow the instructions on the TN 15986, but a few things can be wrong. If your portal is installed over Windows do not use the backslash character () on the zip path If you use the path like the command bellow, you get the "zip file not found exception" and a Build Failed message. ./ConfigEngine.sh webdav-deploy-zip-file -DTargetURI=dav:themelist/newtheme/ -DZipFilePath=d:tmpnewtheme.zip -DUpdateMode=merge You need to use the slash character on the file path ./ConfigEngine.sh webdav-deploy-zip-file -DTargetURI=dav:themelist/theme/ -DZipFilePath=d:/tmp/newtheme.zip -DUpdateMode=merge You need to put the wasadmin and portaladmin passwords on wkplc.properties.

IBM WebSphere Portal 8.5 CF12 removes the Apache Axis library from the classpath

Due to security vulnerabilities in the Apache Axis V1.x libraries, IBM is removing the Axis JAR file from IBM WebSphere Portal 8.5 effective with Cumulative Fix 12. There is no product code that uses this library, but it has been on the classpath since the initial 8.5.0.0 release. The specific JAR to be removed is "axis.jar." The only exposure here is the chance that custom code, in either a custom theme or a custom portlet, would be using classes from this library. If there is no custom code in your Portal installation that is using these classes, then you will have no problems. If there is custom code in your Portal installation that is using these classes, then you will see ClassNotFound

"Internal Server Error" you connect to IBM WeBsphere Portal

Initial connection to the Portal Server via an HTTP server reports: "Internal Server Error". Refreshing the browser results in a successful connection. Enabling the plugin trace you can see the error - TRACE: lib\rio: wait\on\socket: ServerIOTimeout fired. In my case the IBM HTTP is on the same machine as Portal and it's not a cluster. The default value for ServerIOTimeout is -1. Ajusting to ServerIOTimeout=120 solve the problem You can see in the TN 1411685 that this problem was found on System I but my server is on Linux.

The auditing service allows you to log a set of events into a separate audit log file. All events are organized in groups. For example, the logging events User created and User deleted are grouped together and can therefore only be switched on or off together. The log file contains one audit log message per line. Portal Server V6.0.x migration to Portal Server V7.0.x

I'm working on a project to migrate the portal version. The portal server use a remote WCM.
We need to migrate a Portal Server environment and WCM environment.
There is no path to migrate Portal Server V6.0 to Portal Server V7.0, only Express, Enable and Extend and this situation is not documented by IBM.
I opened a PMR and the lab told me to upgrade Portal Server V.6.0 using WCM 7.0 binaries.
If you didnÂ´t know, in Portal V6, Portal and WCM was the same binaries and if you wish WCM after the setup process you run a command line to setup the wcm authoring interface, etc, etc.

Yesterday a costumer ask to update all servers because of this issue. A URL manipulation security vulnerability has been found in the dojo module for WebSphere Portal versions 7.0.0.x and 8.0. APAR PM64172 has been provided to address this issue. The apar is included in CF14 for WebSphere Portal v7.0.0.1 and v7.0.0.2, and is available as an interim fix for WebSphere Portal v8. Last monday a customer reports the error SRVE0190E and 404 errors appearing sometimes for some users. After reading lots of trace the error was caused by the following: The customer has one IBM HTTP Server in front of two cells. One cell is WAS Cluster and another is Portal Cluster. The websphere pluging-cfg.xml is merged and then deployed on the HTTP Server. Reading the trace i discovered that the customer has two applications with the same context root installed. Solution: Change the context root of one application.

Last month we complete a WCM migration from version 6.0.1.7 to 7.0.0.2. The final step was the setup of the inheritance of security settings from the library to the content. with the task /ConfigEngine.sh run-wcm-admin-task-update-security -DWasPassword=yourpassword -DallLibraries=true -DremoveExistingPerms=true -DinheritPerms=apply -DrestrictOn=Content -DpreserveDates=true -libSecurity=true. But with this command you will update only de Content type. If you have images referenced as components the security will not be updated. To update all content types run the command without -DrestricticOn key.

WebSphere Portal can eat your disk space

When you have a portal for a long time (My case since 6.0.0.1) you apply a list of Fix during the life of your portal.
The directory version grows and you need to clean up to free disk space, I open a PMR and the answer was: "It is critical that the client does not remove the jar files from the
backup folder. This folder is very important if you decide to uninstall
a fix/fixpack or upgrade to a new fixpack. If you install a fix, say
PM0001 and it affects the portal.jar file. What happens is that the
original portal.jar file is stored in the backup folder and the new
portal.jar is deployed.

WebSphere Portal is removing Apache commons-httpclient JAR files

Due to security vulnerabilities (CVE-2012-6153 and CVE-2014-3577) WebSphere Portal is removing the Apache commons-httpclient JAR files from all releases and replacing them with the newer version (Apache HttpClient 4.3.6).
Note that the JAR files may not be removed by a specific interim fix but the interim fix will remove all WebSphere Portal uses of those JAR files and the JAR files will be removed by a subsequent Cumulative Fix associated with that release. These JAR files have been on the Portal classpath in many releases. WebSphere Portal and WebSphere Content Manager Combined Cumulative Fix (CCF) 20 will be the last Cumulative Fix produced for the 7.0.0.1 release. WebSphere Portal version 7.0.0.1 will continue to be supported until the End of Service date for Version 7 but no cumulative fixes will be released for 7.0.0.1 after CF 20. Websphere Portal V8.0.0.1 and CF10 CRIMA1020E error

Yesterday i was updating a portal V8.0.0.1 CF5 to CF10 and the CF10 failed. I restore the full backup of the file system but i got the following : Erro durante a fase "configurar pÃ³s-instalaÃ§Ã£o":

Setup SSO with Windows Desktop is not so hard. But when things is not well documented you can get a big headake. A customer ask to implement this SSO. The environment was a WebSphere Portal V.8.0 cluster and the user repository was AD 2012. I setup the system following several documents from IBM and other blogs. The SSO just not work. WebSphere Portal v8 Cumulative Fix 4 installation issues with WCM

There are two known issues related to WCM with the CF4 installation for WebSphere Portal v8.0.0.1. 1.The CF4 installation fails if the Portal URI has been changed.
2. If you have disabled automatic syndication, it is re-enabled after CF4 installation completes. ssue 1 - The CF4 installation fails during the post-install-configure step "CONFIG-WP-PTF-CF" if you have changed the Portal URI to something other than the default /wps. What is the best decision about WAS Fixpack’s related to WebSphere Portal?

This link(https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24029137) to to a technote about required WAS fixpacks when you have WebSphere Portal. The minimun is 7.0.0.13 but you can install a later fix for WAS.
