After upgrading Sametime Server to 8.5.1 users using Notes 8.x Basic and older Notes clients cannot log in
In the \Config\ section of the sametime.ini section add ST\MINIMAL\CLIENT\VERSION=6510 (or lower) to resolve this issue.
Note that all servers in the environment must have the same values for both VP\SECURITY\LEVEL and ST\MINIMAL\CLIENT\VERSION to communicate with each other.

Today i finished the setup of Sametime for a client in my city. The MS AD administrator asked about how to prevent users from loggin in based on a Group.
Sametime doesn't have this kind of police. If you use the TN 1166845 the solution is to add a new attribute for every user. :-(.
This workaround doesn't meet our requirements (restricting using groups). I change the LDAP search filter in stconfig.nsf from;

One of my servers is runing for 305 days. I Know that 8.0.2 and Centos 5.2 are old but the strategy is if is not broken don't fix it. This server is for Sametime (chat only), SMTP and some mail users using Notes. The webadmin message is from the server, and thanks to my datacenter too. Last week we started another new setup of Domino 8.5 and Sametime 8.5 (small company with 12 users).
Now a long history.
We setup Domino 8.5.1 and Sametime 8.5 as usual. Domino works great but Sametime 8.5 not. The users try to logon using sametime client but nothing happens.
The sametime client can't connect to the server. The STPresenceSubscriptionMgr sevice doesn't start.
I try everything i Know, and check everything about Windows.
We reinstall all the environment and nothing. We setup another windows machine and it works.
I open an PMR and IBM told us that the problem was with Windows

Notes 7 is supported on Windows but I'm finding that there are some problems, when i try to use audio with the sametime integrated client. Não considero uma boa polÃtica ficar restringindo o uso do Sametime, é uma ferramenta de comunicação muito poderosa, mas... (sempre tem um mas) existem usuários que abusam ou o chefe não compreende a importância do uso do Sametime.
Fui questionado, por um cliente sobre qual a melhor maneira de restringir o uso do Sametime ou seja que alguns usuários não usem o produto. O TN1166845(http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=203&uid=swg21166845) mostra algumas maneiras de atingir o objetivo.
A opção que fizemos foi usar um atributo do Diretório Domino existente (evita customização) e alterar o filtro de autenticação e busca do Sametime.

This will be the default setting when a new Server Configuration doc is created. For the 9.0 release of iNotes, administrators will need to select "Sametime Web Client Integration" in the Server Configuration Doc and complete all additional fields with the appropriate information. I setup the integration between Sametime Proxy 9.0 and IBM Connections a long time ago. When i access the Connections homepage the sametime widget does not work. After some research i found a solution. I need to install the Sametime Server Proxy Certificate on my browsers. Um recurso que muitas pessoas estão pedindo, principalmente depois de ver uma apresentação do Sametime, é a capacidade de ver as fotos das pessoas no chat ou em outras partes do produto.
As configurações variam de caso para caso, principalmente com a utilização de LDAP.
Para configurar as fotos e utilizando como diretório LDAP um servidor Domino o TechNote 1244204(http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=477&uid=swg21244204) resolve o problema. Setup the Domino server on Centos 6.x (tutorial here(http://seancull.co.uk/public/seancull.nsf/dx/sntt-notesin9-installing-domino-8.5.3-up1-fp3-on-centos-rhel-6.3-64-bit.htm)) and then enter the command bellow as a root export STSkipOSCheck=true Setup sametime using -console option and everything should be fine. IBM Sametime 9 was launched a few weeks ago. Why communication is important.
It all started when I forgot my cell phone battery charger. He hung up around 5:30 pm.
My wife, who does not use Sametime, Twitter, MSN needed to talk to me. I was online until 6:00 pm.
The result of the lack of communication:
I needed to buy paint to complete the reform of the living room. Only know after arriving home.
What cost me two hours looking for a shop selling custom paint we use.
If she uses up something besides the phone I would have solved everything in 30 minutes and spent 50% of value.
Never forget the battery charger.
